Making pizza on the grill takes a little getting used to. Tossing uncooked dough directly onto the grate over live fire can take a little courage at first. But once your try it and see how delicious it turns out, you’ll go back for more.

Follow the step by step instructions below and you will be grilling in no time.

Mix and prepare dough.

Turn onto DoughEZ mat to Knead. Let rise,

Roll out dough within DoughEZ mat.

In a large mixing bowl, stir the yeast into the warm water. Allow it to dissolve for 5 minutes.

Stir in the olive oil, salt, and flour. Stir until ingredients are combined and the dough comes together.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured Dough EZ Rolling system and knead the dough for 3-4 minutes until firm.

While the dough is rising, spray your grill racks with non-stick cooking spray and heat your grill to high heat. Add the sausages, peppers and onions. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the veggies are soft and the sausages are browned and cooked through. Remove them from the heat, chop the onions and peppers into 1” pieces, and the sausages into 1/2” slices.

When the dough is ready, punch it down to release any air bubbles. On a lightly floured DoughEZ Rolling System, place the dough onto the right side, cover it with the left side, and flatten it down to form a large, round disk. Use a DoughEZ rolling pin to roll the dough out until it’s approximately 1” thick. Uncover the dough and fold the left side underneath the right side, so it’s underneath the dough.

Carry the mat with the dough over to the grill and flip the mat over to place the dough on the grill. Peel DoughEZ the mat off the dough and set aside. Close the grill lid and allow the dough to bake for 3-4 minutes.

Use a large spatula to flip the pizza crust over. Turn the grill heat off and spread the marinara sauce onto the cooked side of the crust. Follow with the shredded mozzarella, sliced mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, sausages, grilled peppers and onions. Close the lid again and allow the residual heat from the grill to melt the cheese and finish the crust, approximately 4 more minutes.

Use a large spatula to remove the pizza from the grill. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before finishing it with the chopped fresh basil. Serve while still hot.
